Due to the storm, we had a free day yesterday. We decided to use our free day to do a little exploring, and ended up in Valletta where we saw the noon cannon salute at the Saluting Battery which overlooks the Grand Harbor. The Saluting Battery was used for over 400 years to signal time, mark holidays, and salute visiting vessels. More information about the Saluting Battery can be found here: http://www.wirtartna.org/od_menu/SalutingBattery/tabid/259/Default.aspx .

Thanks so much
Our Italian hosts deserve a special thanks for being so kind and helpful. Thank you for giving us your time while we were working in Sicily. We would not have visited so many sites, and learned as much about the area without you. Thanks again for your generosity, and we hope to see you soon.
